On The Way to Delaware
Finally left Palm Springs today (Wednesday, Dec 12th) about noon. Man, what a hassle. Started packing the motorhome and a Penske truck with furniture for the house in Seaford on Monday. Took all day Monday and Tuesday and finally got it all loaded this morning. Â
A big thanks to Lee, one of my best friends and associates at work in Palm Springs. Without him helping to pack and load and providing lots of encouraging words….in addition to making cocktails each night, not so sure we would have gotten underway by noon.  Thanks Lee!  And, to John, who is driving behind me in the Penske truck, another great big thanks.
We are parked in a truck stop in Holden, AZ. Cold as hell outside…..about 23 degrees. As we went through Flagstaff on I-40, their was about 6 inches of snow alongside the road. Road was clear. Funny thing was we stopped at a rest area to let the dogs out to do their thing……it was the first time they had seen snow much less step in it.  At first they thought it was great, then their paws and noses got cold…so, a fast tinkle from both and we then had to pick them up and get them back in the coach. Both were shivering.  Got a feeling they are going to miss Palm Springs.
Today we drove a total of 470 miles at an average speed of 62 mph. Onboard computer says the coach is getting 6.6 mpg…..ugh…and at $3.19, which is what it is in Arizona. But then, it was all uphill. Flagstaff is at an elevation of roughly 7,300 feet.
In my last post, I promised a photo of Jake, so here he is. A dapple, long hair doxie. Supposed to me a mini but he sure is getting big and only 8 months old!
It’s now a bit after 2 AM Arizona time so I’m off to bed now.
