Halloween Was Fantastic

Halloween is always such a great holiday. The kids have so much fun dressing up and I think the adults always appreciate a "secret" opportunity to dress up in drag.

This year Samantha (Sam), my almost 3 year old granddaughter, decided to be the "good" witch. With her being the good witch, by default, Brandy, my daughter and Sam's mother, was the "bad" witch. Brandy's mother also decided to drive in from Columbus, Ohio for that weekend so she joined in the fun by also dressing up as a "bad" witch. A couple of my closest friends came over from Rehoboth Beach and San Diego to help celebrate.I'm lazy, I just put on a Minnesota Vikings helmet and called it a day.

Sam had a ball and made out like a fat rat with the candy. Brandy, being the paranoid Mom that she is, pitched nearly all the candy and we re-stuffed Sam's bag with candy we had purchased just for the occasion.

Hope you guys enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. And, Bobby, thanks for taking those great photos outdoors. Bill

You Want Me to Do What?

Yeah, it's still raining in Delaware. Major flooding over at the beach areas, roads closed and thousands without power in Sussex County. I guess we are pretty lucky over here in the central and western part of Delaware since all we've gotten is rain, rain and more rain.
So, what we really need is a little humor to get us through tonight and tomorrow and then the weatherman is promising that by Sunday the sun will be shining and it will be sunny and in the 70's.

So, here's a bit of humor that we all can enjoy. Bill

Crappy Weather in Delaware Today

Don't know if you've heard, but the east coast is getting pounded with torrential rain......some places they are predicting up to 12 inches, and high winds. The beach areas in Delaware are receiving 60 mph gusts. Evidently, the remmants of Hurricane Ida has moved to the Virginia Beach area where a front pushed by the jet stream has come south and collided with it. The storm has now stalled over Virginia Beach and a tad bit to the south.

Our forecast here in Seaford is for coastal flooding tonight and all day Thursday and Friday with tidal flooding two hours each way of the high tides. It's a good time to stay inside, stay warm and dry and have some hot chocolate and homemade chicken soup. It's also a good time to think about how beautiful spring and summer was here in Inland Dealaware. Just thinking about it had me looking on the computer today at some of the photos I took in early spring just as everything was starting to bloom.

Thought you might like to see some of them, so here they are...Bill

It was a crappy day in Delaware. Temperature was only in the mid 60's lots of overcast skies, haze and drizzle. Just a good day to stay inside, stay warm and have a hot bowl of chili.

A week ago we were having an "Autumn Summer" so early on morning I went out and took a few photos. Those of you who know me know I like to think of myself as somewhat of an amateur photographer. I use a Nikon 300 with an 18-70mm lens for most shots and an SB 600 flash. I also like to play around a bit with Adobe Photoshop.

Here are a few photo I took last week. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them. They are, of course copyrighted but if you will write to me on the blog or directly to me at billnde@earthlink.net , I'll be happy to send you a hi-res photo that you can use and all I ask is that you give credit to http//billnps.blogdumps.net

Enjoy the photos,

Bill

+Been a lot goin on

Been a heck of a long time since I posted on the blog.  Their has been a lot going on the past few months so I'll bring you up to date on the medical news and then start posting regularly on things have happened and things as they happen.

I went to Hawaii in August and then stopped off in Palm Springs for a week before coming back to Delaware.  While in Hawaii I was feeling a bit poopy.  Got worse in Palm Springs and by the time I got back to Delaware I was really feeling bad.  By bad, I mean, weak, couldn't catch my breath and pain in my chest like heart burn.  Never having had heartburn I just figured maybe that what it was.

Right after labor day I went to the doc, and to make a long story short I had pneumonia and they discovered a spot on my lung.  After x-rays, CAT scans and PET scans they determined I had lung cancer....the bad type, small cell carcinoma, also called small cell lung cancer or SCLC for shot.  I had already spread to several lymph nodes and to my liver.

Have gone through one series of chemo and will go in for the second round this coming Tuesday.  Yeah, it's as bad as they say.  Some nausea, overall feeling tired and and damn sure feeling tired.  And, of course, you do lose your hair.

The hair started to come out about a week and a half ago.  My thoughts were that I wanted as much control over this crap as I can, so instead of waiting for it to start falling out in clumps, I had family and a few close friends over and we had a shaving party.  We had a blast and it helped me...and everyone else, to feel in control.

More in a day or so and since I have so much time on my hands, I'll be posting a some photos of my Hawaii Trip and photos I've been taking around the house.
Br> Here are a couple of pics "BEFORE" and "AFTER".
